#Train4Tomorrow offers free, high quality, digital and technical training to employed and unemployed adults. The training is designed by industry to meet their open and live vacancies. Digital and Technical Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses, up to 16 weeks; giving people the opportunity to build up specific-sector skills and fast-track to an interview with a local employer.

The programme, funded through the National Skills Fund, includes different Digital and Technical Skills Bootcamps that have been designed to help local people advance or pivot their skills into growing sectors resilient to the current economic downturn.

LAUNCH YOUR NEW CAREER IN DATA, CYBER, ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION, WELDING, PHOTONICS, AGRI TECH OR MARINE TECHNICAL

With different #Train4Tomorrow Skills Bootcamps to choose from, there are opportunities to move into cyber, data science, software, digital marketing, IT, welding, photonics, engineering, construction, Agri tech, or electrical installation. The options cover a wide variety of in-demand skills.

The training is completely free and everyone completing the Skills Bootcamp is matched with an interview opportunity.

Technical Skills Bootcamps - Construction

This Skills Bootcamp is designed to enable successful candidates to ‘stand out’ when employers’ are recruiting for electrical installation apprentices and fast-track to an interview with a local employer.

On successful completion of the programme candidates will receive a CCNSG National Passport, an ECITB Pre-Employment Programme certificate and a Focus Training certificate of training.The CCNSG (Client Contractor National Safety Group) Safety Passport is the engineering construction industry safety card. Workers must have a valid CCNSG Safety Passport to enter many engineering and construction sites. As a result, around 30,000 people complete the course each year.

This 12 week pre-apprenticeship programme is open to those aged 19 or above.

Technical Skills Bootcamps - Engineering & Manufacturing

This 16-week bootcamp is for those looking to work within the Engineering sector and is ideal for those that are currently unemployed, have completed a college programme or those looking for a career change or to upskill within their current employment.

o The aim of the programme is to support those aged 19 and over to develop transferable skills and knowledge to gain employment in a construction and engineering environment. Candidates will progress from training into work experience gaining skills towards an NVQ Level 3, with opportunity to follow an apprenticeship. A guaranteed interview is available upon completion with potential for employment with many regional and national employers who have committed to help new careers flourish.

This 12-week Skills Bootcamp in welding has been designed in partnership with our industry partners and is for learners who wish to retrain to gain practical skills and knowledge in welding and fabrication to prepare them for progression onto an Apprenticeship, further study or employment in this sector.

Learners will have access to the latest welding technology, which includes virtual welding within our state-of-the-art Engineering Centre. This will enable learners to develop the relevant skills at a steady pace.

Learners will complete practical assignments alongside online knowledge tests for each mandatory unit of study.

Modules include:

  • Workshop induction
  • Health and Safety awareness
  • Welding introduction using Virtual Welding equipment
  • Workshop-based skills assessment using real welding equipment, materials and consumables
  • Engineering skills including interpreting drawings, measuring and marking
  • Welding specific units to be covered include: MIG, TIG, Cutting and Grinding

This 10-week Skills Bootcamp in Welding, has been developed in collaboration with local employers and is offering all learners the opportunity to be assessed for a welding code certification worth up to £1,200 in addition to the training. The BS4872 (GMAW Mild Steel) welding code certifies competence in welding for maintenance and will give learners a strong foundation to start their career.

This course will be delivered in the College’s brand-new £7 million engineering and technology ‘Valency’ centre, which has cutting-edge welding and augmented reality welding facilities, and will combine a fully-funded training programme with employability skills and a guaranteed interview with a local employer.

Technical Skills Bootcamps - Green Skills

Woodland establishment, maintenance and management, timber harvesting and Environmental Land Management Schemes (ELMS) including carbon management, carbon foot printing and achieving farm Net Zero.

On completion learners will better understand the timber supply chain including the roles of the Landowner, Forest Works Manager, Contractor and Agent. They will learn how to prepare sites for planting and/or natural regeneration including: maintain and repair open drainage systems, fencing and boundary features and infrastructure. Learners will also plant and care for trees as well as carrying out maintenance of chainsaw and cross-cut of felled timber to prepare for assessments at a later date.
