From Storyboard to Screen: Amazing Animators Competition Winner’s Vision Brought to Life

We are thrilled to unveil the final animation created from the storyboard designed by Candice Leung, the talented winner of our Amazing Animators competition! Candice, a student at Bishop Fox School, crafted a compelling storyboard that demonstrated her creative flair and passion for a greener planet.

In collaboration with Devon County Council’s Waste Management team, we developed a competition brief centred on a vital theme: showcasing how recycling plays an integral role in our daily lives and why it is essential in tackling climate change and protecting our environment.

Candice’s Reaction

Candice shared her excitement upon seeing her storyboard brought to life:

“I really enjoyed entering the competition, and thank you to all those who helped get my animation made—it is amazing! Recycling is an important topic to me, and I’m happy that my animation is being used in our assemblies to promote recycling across all year groups.”

Bringing the storyboard to life
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the creative team at Pushed, who transformed Candice’s storyboard into an engaging and impactful animation. Dave Meadows, Managing Director of Pushed, praised Candice’s vision:

“Candice’s storyboard showcased remarkable talent at such a young age, blending creativity with a clever yet simple message. Her vision translated perfectly into animation, highlighting her potential for a bright future in a digital career. We’re thrilled with the final result and delighted it has been so well-received, inspiring others to embrace recycling in a fun and engaging way!”

Celebrating creativity across all entries
We were amazed by the high standard of entries received for this competition. Simone Marillier-Roberts, Programme Manager for Raising Digital Engagement, remarked:

“Choosing a winner was no easy task, as all the submissions delivered important messages about recycling in fun and creative ways. It’s wonderful to see so many talented young people demonstrating a keen interest in animation design.”

A school’s perspective
Alan Chandler, Computer Science and IT Lead at Bishop Fox School, reflected on the competition’s positive impact on their students:

“The Amazing Animators competition has been a fantastic experience for our school, particularly for our Computing Department and the students who participated. I’ve noticed more students discussing GCSE Computer Science or IT as future options.”

Alan also highlighted the broader benefits of the KS3 Raising Digital Engagement project:

“The entire project has been inspirational and has left a tangible impact on our school. Thanks to the competition prize and project funding, we’ve been able to launch a new robotics club and further enhance engagement in Computing. Our heartfelt thanks go to Simone and Devon County Council for their support.”
