Building Growth South West is inviting people from construction SME’s to their event at the Devon Hotel on Friday 1st April. Here they will have an opportunity to access up to £10000 is government grants, and an opportunity to network with other businesses in the area.

The Community Renewal Fund will help new or emerging SMEs (pre-start or in the first three years of trading) who are based in Devon (Excluding Plymouth and Torbay) with cash grants to help them develop and grow. The grants are open to anyone who is working in the built environment including facilities management, mechanical engineering, construction, professional services or landscaping.

The grants can be used to fund whatever the business needs whether it is new tools, new kit, legal fees or skills training.

Grants will be made available on a first come first served basis and must be spent by June 2022.

Phil Scott, the Head of Construction and Sustainability at YTKO added, “It really isn’t an April fool’s joke, I’d recommend that anyone comes down to join us at the Devon Hotel as once these grants are gone, they’re gone for good.”

In collaboration with Building Growth Southwest and YTKO, this event is to also showcase the ongoing “DESME” project- Digital Enablement for SMES. This project hopes to improve the digital skills capabilities of growing construction SMEs. This project has developed a “Digital Course Finder” tool which will be an extremely useful resource for individuals and employers to browse all the available Digital Skills training opportunities in the area, and find the one most suitable for their needs.

This is the first of it’s kind in the Devon space and is a tool we hope to expand to cover all sectors in time to come.
